“Alright mandrake, let’s make a disguise.” Raziel said, placing his hand on its leaves. Upon pulling it up, a deafening wailing infected the air. Raziel had to fight the urge to kill it; it would be no use dead.
Kapernicon put the mandrake into the concoction. He put the gooey blue liquid into a flask. “Drink this when you are ready to change from. It will only last for a week.” Kapernicon said.
“Thank you, friend.” Raziel said, leaving the shack.
The Abysmal Swamp tricked all who entered. When inside, one could not determine what time of day it was. The light stayed at a constant dark. Raziel hoped to Lucifer that it wasn’t the time of the Nightdwellers. Raziel cursed as he stepped into the blackness. Again he heard the familiar howl, but could not place it to an exact memory. Something whizzed past his ear. Half a dozen blades flew at him through the blackness. He dodged them with crouches and rolls. He pulled out his axe and prepared to fight.
Raziel… Raziel… A voice invaded his mind.
“Who’s there!?” Raziel yelled. A shadowy figure came into view. It shrieked and raised a long, curved blade. “Nightdweller.” Raziel muttered. The figure ran toward him, its blade glowing a bright blue. Raziel swung his axe but was too slow before the Nightdweller’s blade contacted his ribs. Red mist flowed from the wound. Raziel staggered for a moment but leapt back into the action. Now there were three Nightdwellers, all attacking from different directions. Raziel tried his best to keep up, but he could not and was soon bested as two more appeared. He was soon chained and restrained. A very large, more definite figure appeared. I know… who is that? I recognize him but… Raziel thought. The large figure laughed. It had writhing tentacles protruding from its back, something else vaguely recognized. “Who are you?” Raziel asked.
“You don’t recognize me? I’m hurt. I guess you can’t be blamed, seeing as how you had your memory wiped.” It said.
“What!? What memory wipe!?” Raziel yelled. The figured howled.
“You wouldn’t remember it, now would you? That’s why it’s called a memory wipe. You will remember who I am, in due time.” It laughed.
“Why have I been chained? Do you intend to imprison me?” Raziel asked.
No. I intend to do something much more… entertaining… at least, for me! It spoke in his head.
“What!?” Raziel screeched as it placed a hand upon his head. It began to perform Necromancy. Its tentacles stopped writhing and stuck straight out, its eyes turned a sickly white. Raziel could do nothing but feel agonizing pain. Finally, it removed its hand and returned to its previous state. Raziel fell to the ground gasping. The Nightdwellers began to back away.
“This will be fun.” The figure just before disappearing into the shadows.
“What did you do to me!??” Raziel screeched.
Just like my identity, you will find out in due time. It spoke in his head. Raziel cursed. A multitude of new questions had come to. Who was that? What did he do? What was his purpose? When his strength returned he was able to break the chains and head toward his next destination, the Black Pyramid. This was the nearest portal to Earth.
